Echoes Across the Sea

Music travels across borders, generations and forms as Japanese pianist Toru Oyama joins Jakarta Sinfonietta for an evening of music for piano and strings.

The programme moves from Japanese piano works and an Indonesian melody reimagined for orchestra to Toru Takemitsu’s evocative music for cinema. After the interval, Mozart’s intimate Piano Concerto No. 14 places soloist and ensemble in lively conversation, before Walton’s Sonata for Strings brings the evening to a powerful conclusion.

Conducted by Iswargia R. Sudarno, Echoes Across the Sea follows music as it moves between countries, traditions and settings, returning with a different voice each time.
