¡Take Cover!

A familiar melody takes an unexpected turn.

¡Take Cover! is Alfredo Rodríguez’s project of reimagining songs from popular culture through his own musical language. It forms the heart of this concert program, bringing these reinterpretations together with selections from his original work.

Familiar melodies are reshaped through Afro-Cuban rhythm, jazz improvisation and the instinctive interplay of his trio. The songs remain recognisable, but their surroundings shift: harmonies open up, rhythms gather momentum and each arrangement finds a new character in performance.

Moving between interpretation and original composition, Rodríguez creates music that feels immediate without being predictable. What begins with recognition becomes something more expansive: vivid, rhythmically charged and alive to the room.
