
He is a laureate of several major international piano competitions, receiving Second Prize at the Santander International Piano Competition, First Prize at the Jaén International Piano Competition and Third Prize at the Maria Canals International Piano Competition. He has also received prizes at the Bösendorfer, Horowitz, New Orleans and Ferrol competitions.
Sun has performed at venues including Salle Cortot in Paris, Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona, Jordan Hall in Boston, Saint Petersburg Philharmonia Hall, Warsaw Philharmonic Hall and the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing.
As a soloist, he has appeared with the Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, RTVE Symphony Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra of Galicia and China NCPA Orchestra, working with conductors including Hugh Wolff, Miguel Ángel Gómez Martínez, Nicholas McGegan and Earl Lee.
His recordings include a debut album for the Naxos Laureate Series and Lumina (2025), released by NCPA Classics and featuring Brahms’s complete late piano works, Opp. 116–119.
Sun studied with Alexander Korsantia and Dang Thai Son at the New England Conservatory, where he completed the Artist Diploma programme. He is currently a member of the piano faculty at the Zhejiang Conservatory of Music.
