Born in Havana, Rodríguez trained at Cuba’s classical conservatories before coming to international attention at the Montreux Jazz Festival, where he met Quincy Jones, who became his mentor and producer.
Since then, he has performed at major venues and festivals around the world, developing a musical voice marked by dazzling technique, rhythmic invention and expressive range. His music moves freely across pop, Afrobeat, Cuban tradition and jazz while retaining its clarity, energy and distinctive character.
His albums include Sounds of Space, The Invasion Parade, Tocororo, The Little Dream, Duologue, Coral Way and ¡Take Cover!.
